Scores might or might not

Abstract : Scores might or might not, that is, they might or might not represent or constitute the most important element in the context of musical meaning. We are in the presence a two-page graphic score: a chaos of unfinished and contradictory objects, badly juxtaposed, and devoid of any sort of linearity. The score gives in its normative pressure over the performers’ actions, renounces its status as a “sacred” text, only to become precisely a pre-text, both in the sense of being just an excuse for the music to happen, and in the sense of being a graphical prelude to the text that is going to be continuously written, unwritten and rewritten through performance.
